Last weekend during Hari Raya Ailiadha (also known as Hari Raya Haji), I was in my dad's hometown, in Kampung Tasek, Simpang Ampat, Pulau Pinang. Pulau Pinang or Penang in the English Language is one of the states in Peninsular Malaysia. It is located in the northern region of Malaysia and consists of an island and a land. This island is called Pulau Mutiara or Pearl of the Orient.
Since it was quite some time I did not come here, it was a nice getaway from work. My family in Penang made a kenduri in remembrance of those who passed away in the family so a cow was needed for the kenduri. I get to witness the decapitation of the cow. This is to mark the religious act of sacrifice in Aidiladha. This is called Qurban in the Arabic language.
I went to Queensbay Mall, in Penang Island. It was one the latest shopping malls to be build in Penang which is now really in rapid development. One thing I like about Queensbay Mall is because it has my favorite bookstore, Borders. Other tenants were Jusco, Baskin Robbins, McDonald's and Laksa Shack. Yummy! :-D
Famous for it's Char Kuey Teow delicacy, Penang is a haven for food! I had the pleasure of having Char Kuey Teow in Bukit Mertajam. Food lovers will absolutely enjoy the exquisite taste of the traditional fried white noodles served with fresh prawns and pickled chillies. If you have the chance to come down to Penang, especially if you're around Bukit Mertajam, do try out the famous Char Kuey Teow, at Kampung Pelet, Bukit Mertajam. You won't regret it! I had 3 plates my self! :-D
